London - Health Practice & Policy

Program Overview

London Health Studies

Don't just learn about health care in a classroom—immerse yourself through theory and practice in compelling public health issues in London, Oxford, and Kingston, Jamaica, that are affecting local communities, countries, and the global population right now.

Through our program, you discover the different perspectives, challenges, and needs of diverse populations in London and Kingston with a once-in-a-lifetime service learning and practicum opportunity.

The curriculum for this program was created to meet the academic needs and interests of students in pre-professional medical studies and public health majors and minors, as well as students studying Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, Psychology, or Sociology.

In the final two weeks of the term, you participate in an extended field study trip to Kingston with the University of the West Indies School of Nursing, Mona. There you learn about the health care issues in a developing economy through lectures, discussions, and a practicum at community health clinics.

Why London?

The Beatles said it best in their hit song "Blackbird": "All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arise." Now's your time—study abroad in the land of William Shakespeare, the Royal family, Sir Isaac Newton, and Harry Potter. Be inspired by everything around you in London, from the museums and art galleries to Buckingham Palace and Parliament. Even a simple walk around this culturally rich city or a ride on the Tube can inspire you in ways you'd never imagine.
